Tournament!
Kit
The SL TOURNAMENT ASSOCIATION is the longest running support group for tournaments in SL. It is an apolitical organization, managed by the participating tournament hosts and open to all Realms regardless of race or affiliation. If you have a tournament you wish to promote or track results for, send an email below with full details.
In the true spirit of the Olympics, the group works to bring all together for the love of competition and to build community awarness of each Realm's offerings. It provides support and guidelines but does not impose rules or regulations so each host can decide best practices for their Realm, trusting all will gain from a variety of experiences and challenges.
To aid and assist tournament hosts, the group offers this website for tracking the results of participants. Hosting kits, regular meetings and information for building cooperation and best practices between Realms is offered freely as a community service.
HOSTING KIT
Hosting a tournament can be a daunting task. To assist the host, we provide a KIT to help make the experience successful, simple, easy and consistent from tournament to tournament. Items can be rezzed when needed and stored after use and helps facilitate 'If you build it, they will come." It includes:

TRACKING RESULTS
Each Host is asked to post the results of their tournament to allow participants to track their progress, but we also recognize the rights of participants to have their results reported independantly regardless of the Hosts preference.
Participating hosts agree to honor a simple set of guidelines which has governed the SL Tournament Association from its inception. Space for the SLTA headquarters is provided by the Double Dragon Academy (DDA), but meetings are rotated between hosting Realms.
ROUND TABLE
Each host has a hand in the operation of the SLTA. A Round Table with a rotating compass at the HQ signafies each voice is as important as another in the decision making process.
The purpose of an SLTA meeting is to gather and share plans, ideas or agendas of interest to all hosts and leave personal issues between individuals at the front door.
Each Realms tournament rules and format are honored and not subject to alteration by anyone but their host. For the community-wide Intersim events sponsored by many realms, SLTA hosts can make recommendations or guidelines for best practices, but stop short of imposing on a Realm. Officiating, arena settings, special awards or adjustments to Guidelines are always left to the sponsoring Realm.
MEETINGS
Participating hosting Realms manage SLTA affairs. Each Realm manager serves as a representative for their members, or can designate another to attend on their behalf.
Realms take turns hosting the meeting with their principal representative acting as the chair.
Meetings are scheduled on a regular basis as time allows. Monitor SLTA group notices or emails for confirmation of location and schedule.
Meetings are not a public forum, but anyone is welcomed to attend as long as they do not disrupt preceedings. Recommendations or agenda items should be submitted and vetted with their Realm's representative.
Meetings are light on process, with few rules and regulations. The chairperson for the meeting goes around the table to gather agenda items for new business or facilitate discussion for items still under discussion from prior meetings. Proposals can be placed on the table by any Realm representative for a full vetting.
DECISIONS
The SLTA uses a consultative approach for decision-making, where each voice is as important as the other. Proposals are heard in turn for a full vetting and respect for each opinion is observed.
Each host can cast a single yea, nay, or choose to abstain on any proposal. However, unanimous consent (including abstentions) and not majority rule is required for any changes to the existing format. Without this consensus, items are tabled for later discussion, and no changes are made. Discussions, opinions & proposals are not made public, but final decisions are posted to the SLTA group.
POSITIONS
Volunteers are called upon for updating the calendar, annual award celebrations, officiating assistance and web services.
